Cloud Migration Blog
More and more, cloud computing is enabling day-to-day business to quickly and cost effectively operate in the Cloud. According to the most recent McAfee report, 97% of organizations are currently using at least one cloud service, while 65% of them have a cloud-first strategy.
The adoption of Cloud computing is skyrocketing. According to a Gartner press release, by 2020 a `no-cloud` policy will be as rare as a 'no internet' policy in companies. The reasons why so many organizations choose to migrate on-premise systems to the cloud can vary, but typical use cases include companies migrating from cloud to cloud or between regions within a cloud.
Cloud computing has experienced tremendous growth within the past few years, and cloud technology adoption continues to grow at a rapid pace. According to an IDC report, at least half of IT investments will be cloud-based this year. Enterprise cloud spending will represent 16% of the compound annual growth in the next ten years.
Migrating workloads can be complex, time-consuming and risky. There is a lot of work to be done and decisions to be made. You need to know both the source environment and the target environment. You need to pick an automation tool and figure out how it works. These are just a few of the many considerations. Often times, teams involved with migrations have other responsibilities to handle including day-to-day tasks. Wouldn’t it be better if someone stepped up to do the migration for you?

He has several patents covering aspects of cloud migration services.
Watt has over 35 years of experience in software and hardware development and was previously chief scientist of S1 Technologies, chief scientist of SecureWare, and president of IIO Systems. During his career, he has designed and implemented Internet financial applications that include the world’s first Internet bank (Security First Network Bank), military-grade secure operating systems, cryptographic products for email and Internet Protocol (IP) networking, anti-virus products, medical imaging equipment, and industrial controls. He is a graduate of Dartmouth College (A.B. and B.E.) and the Thayer School of Engineering with a Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
Many organizations are considering a move to the cloud. There are tons of articles highlighting the advantages that the cloud has to offer such as flexibility, cost savings, scalability, reliability, and security. For SMB’s, budgets can be tight, and the ability to spread costs by using a subscription model means more dollars for marketing efforts.
Ready to move to the cloud? It’s about time! According to a recent white paper published by Rackspace, moving to the cloud can save companies hundreds of thousands of dollars annually. In this report, Rackspace compares the total cost of ownership (TCO) for self-managed on-premise to a managed hosted solution. The benefits highlighted in their white paper using a Rackspace dedicated hosting solution are astounding, saving around 37% TCO in a 3-year period compared to on-prem.
